The fingerprint sensor is included on the back side of the device, and it acts as the shutter button while clicking photos using both the front as well as the rear camera modules. The device sports a 13MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and phase detection autofocus camera to shoot pictures along with LED-flash with an 8MP camera module with f/2.2 aperture and LED-Flash at the front. The screen is covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Mali-T720MP3 GPU is employed and you get a 5.5-inch IPS LCD capacitive curved screen at 401 PPI pixel density. The phone further supports a microSD card using the second SIM slot to support up to 256GB of expandable storage. The device runs on 3GB RAM and touts 32GB internal storage. The latest smartphone by the company is equipped with an octa-core MediaTek MT 6753 chipset which is based on the 28 nm process clocked at 1.3GHz. The left side of the device does not have any buttons with the exception of the dual-SIM tray while the right side houses the power button approximately at the centre of the body and a volume rocker on the upper side of the device. The bottom side of the phone houses a microUSB port for charging and file transfer in addition to a microphone and the 3.5-mm headphone jack to listen to music. The company has included a 'Gionee' branding in addition to the existing logo at the back, right about the speaker grill. There is a second speaker grill at the back of the device and sits on the lower portion of the smartphone. The device feels a little bit bulky in the hand, but this bulk and weight gives it that sturdy feeling. The latest Gionee logo sits below the fingerprint sensor at the back, distinguishing the phone from all the similarly designed smartphones. The fingerprint reader sits on the back below the camera and LED-flash module. There is a silver coating done on the plastic frame to give it a more premier and polished look. The front boasts a 5.5-inch 2.5D curved display with the navigation soft-buttons on the bottom and the speaker, front LED-Flash and camera sitting on the top. The device feels premium and sturdy in hand without any squeaking or loose parts. Apart from the two choices of colours, Mocha Gold and Latte Gold, there is nothing that makes the device stand out from the crowd. The design, however, feels uninspiring and boring. Gionee S6s has not changed much regarding the design and the build quality from the Gionee S6 earlier this year. Surprisingly, the experience has been decent except a few things that are detailed in the review. I have never used Gionee smartphones, and the Gionee S6s is the first experience with Gionee devices for me. The company is marketing the devices for the consumers who want to get better selfies and has touted the "selfie flash" in its marketing campaign. The company had launched Gionee S6 earlier this year and now is improving on the predecessor.
